Discord Voice Translator: Hear Every Call in Your Language

Unitra AI translates what people say in Discord voice channels and calls, live, in about one second. It listens to the Discord audio already playing on your PC, so there is no bot to invite, no server permission to ask for, and it keeps working when you tab into a game.

Overview

Voice, Text and Games, One Translator

Search for a Discord translator and you find bots. Bots translate typed messages, and only in the servers where an admin installed them. They cannot hear a voice channel, which is where most of the talking happens. Unitra AI starts from the audio side: it translates the voices in your call, and covers text channels and DMs on demand in the same app.

  • Voice Channels and Calls, Live

Every voice in the channel is recognized on your PC and translated in about 1 second. Translations appear in a click-through overlay and in the Unitra AI window, whether Discord or your game is in front.

  • Text Channels and DMs, On Demand

Paste a message from any channel or DM and read it in your language. Write your reply, translate it, and paste it back. No bot and no channel permissions involved.

  • Works Alongside Any Game

Discord comms and in-game voice chat are both desktop audio, so the same session translates your Discord squad and the random teammates in the game. See the game translator guide.

Good to know: Unitra AI does not join your server as a bot and does not read text channels automatically; voice is live, text is paste to translate. Speaking your own words into the call in the other person's language is Voice Output, included with Champion on Windows.

How It Works

It Listens to Discord the Way You Do

Discord plays other people's voices through your speakers or headset. Unitra AI captures that desktop audio, together with your own microphone, at the Windows level. Nothing is installed into Discord, nothing is added to the server, and the other people in the call do not need anything.

Speech recognition runs on your device, and your audio is not uploaded unless you explicitly opt in to share data. Only when your PC is under heavy load does cloud assist move part of that processing, securely, to Unitra's private cloud. The recognized text is translated by models tuned for gaming vocabulary, so callouts, slang and in-game names come through as what was meant. Quality varies by language pair and keeps improving.

Translations show in a click-through overlay you can place anywhere on the screen, and in the Unitra AI window. When you alt-tab into a game, the overlay stays on top and keeps translating the Discord call.

Comparison

Discord Translation Bots Compared

Translation bots are the tool most Discord communities already know. They are useful for text, and they stop exactly where voice begins. Here is where the two approaches differ:

Use Cases

Where a Discord Voice Translator Changes the Night

  • Cross-Region Squads

Your five-stack has a Brazilian, two Koreans and a German, and Discord is where the strat talk happens. Everyone speaks their own language; everyone reads the others in theirs.

  • International Communities

Guild and clan servers with members across continents. Voice nights stop splitting by language, and new members can join a call without being fluent first.

  • Watch Parties and Streams

Co-streams and watch parties with friends abroad. Pair it with the OBS browser overlay on Champion to put translated subtitles on the stream itself.

Languages

35 Languages in the Call

English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malay, Filipino, Hindi, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian, German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Czech, Macedonian, Croatian, Greek, Hungarian, Turkish, Armenian, Georgian, Arabic and Persian, and coverage continues to expand.

A call can mix languages. The Free plan recognizes one spoken language at a time; Champion recognizes up to 3 at once, so a channel with Spanish and Portuguese speakers is translated without switching settings.

FAQ

Discord Translation Questions, Answered

Can Unitra AI translate Discord voice chat in real time?

Yes. Unitra AI captures the Discord audio your PC is already playing, recognizes the speech on your device and shows the translation in about 1 second in a click-through overlay and in its main window. It works with voice channels, group calls and direct calls.

Is it a Discord bot? Do I need to add it to the server?

No. Unitra AI is a Windows desktop app, not a bot. Nothing is added to the server, no admin needs to approve it, and the other people in the call do not need to install anything. Only you see the translations.

Does it translate my voice for the other people in the call?

Yes, with Voice Output on Champion (Windows only). Pick the Unitra virtual microphone as your input device in Discord, set up once, and the people in the call hear your words in their language about 1 to 2 seconds after you finish a sentence, with voices in 10 languages. On the Free plan and on macOS, your speech is translated on your screen only.

Can it translate text channels and DMs?

On demand. Paste a message into Unitra AI to read it in your language, or write a reply, translate it and paste it back. It does not read Discord text automatically; a translation bot does that for typed text if your server has one.

Does it work with Discord in the browser?

Yes. Unitra AI captures desktop audio, so the Discord desktop app and Discord in a browser are both translated. It runs on Windows 10 and 11 and on macOS 12.3 or later. There is no mobile version.

Does it work while I am in a game at the same time?

Yes. In-game voice chat and Discord are both desktop audio, so one session translates both. The overlay stays on top of the game, and in exclusive fullscreen the same subtitles show in the free Xbox Game Bar widget.

Is my Discord audio uploaded?

No. Speech recognition runs on your device, and audio is never uploaded, collected or stored unless you explicitly opt in to share data. Only when your PC is under heavy load does cloud assist move part of the recognition processing, securely, to Unitra's private cloud, still without your audio. Text is sent for translation over a secure connection.

Is Unitra AI free?

Yes, free to start. The Free plan includes about 2 hours of voice translation a day, doubled when you opt in to data sharing, and covers voice, text and image translation. No credit card needed.
