Unitra AI Desktop 0.15.1

Voice output speaks your translations into game voice chat, screen translation reads text in your game, and subtitles now show over fullscreen games.

Voice output

Unitra AI can now speak your translations for you. Talk in your own language, and your teammates hear the translation in game voice chat.

Turn it on in Settings > Audio > Voice Output > Read my translations aloud. The first time, Unitra AI installs the Unitra microphone (Windows asks for administrator permission once). Then, in your game's voice settings, choose the Unitra microphone as the input device and speak as usual.

  • Your own voice or a preset. Pick one of the preset voices, or turn on Use my voice profile: Unitra AI learns your voice from your speech and reads translations with it. The profile is trained and stored on your computer.
  • Spoken language. Voice output follows the translation, or you can choose one language to always speak. With three or more languages, pick the one your teammates speak.
  • Alt+V turns voice output on and off without leaving the game.
  • While it is off, your own voice goes straight through the Unitra microphone, so you can leave your game set to it.

Speech is generated on your own computer. When you turn it on, Unitra AI checks that your graphics card has room for it and tells you if it does not.

What it needs. Windows and the Champion plan.

Automatic screen translation

Unitra AI can now read text on your screen and translate it as it appears: game chat, quest text, menus.

Click the Automatic text recognition button in the main window toolbar to set it up. Choose what to read from:

  • Game chat (Beta) reads a chat box line by line, with the speaker's name.
  • Screen text reads everything in the area you choose.

Pick an area or a whole screen. Press Alt+B to draw an area directly over your game, and Alt+C to turn screen translation on or off. Unitra AI remembers the area you chose for each game. Hold the toolbar button to change the settings later; changes apply when you click Done.

Once it is on, it runs whenever translation is running, alongside voice translation. Its results show in the main window, in the overlay and in the fullscreen subtitles below. Text already in your language is shown as it is; to hide it, turn off Show text in my language.

What it needs. Windows, and a Day Pass, Champion or Creator plan.

Subtitles over fullscreen games

Games in exclusive fullscreen draw over every other window, including the Unitra AI overlay. Subtitles can now show there too, through the Unitra widget for Xbox Game Bar.

Open Settings > Overlay > Fullscreen game support and follow the steps: install the widget from the Microsoft Store, open it with Win+G, pin it where subtitles should appear, and turn on click-through so the game keeps your clicks. Unitra AI then shows subtitles in the widget whenever you translate in an exclusive fullscreen game, and in its own overlay everywhere else, including borderless fullscreen.

What it needs. Windows with Xbox Game Bar. The widget is free.

Overlay Studio

Settings > Studio lets you design how subtitles look: fonts, colours and outlines for each line, the background band, spacing, entrance animation, how many lines show and whether the newest appears on top. You can colour your own voice and the other side differently.

Start from a preset look or save your own, and share looks as a file or as text. Your look follows your account to your other computers.

What it needs. The Champion plan.

Standard recognition

  • Both of your languages, both ways. With Standard, speech in either of your two languages is translated into the other, on your microphone and on game audio alike, without turning anything on.
  • Faster from the first sentence. Standard no longer pauses for several seconds on the first sentences of a session or after a quiet spell, and long stretches of continuous speech stay quick instead of slowing down as they go.
  • Less graphics memory, which leaves more room for your game.
  • A choice when a game fills your graphics card. If a running game leaves too little room for Standard, Unitra AI now asks whether to keep Standard or use Legacy for this session, instead of switching quietly.

Cloud assist

When your computer is busy, for example in a demanding game, Standard recognition can get help from Unitra's private cloud so your subtitles keep up. Your audio never leaves your computer: only processed speech data is sent, and it is handled securely on Unitra's own servers. You can turn it off anytime in Settings > Account > Privacy > Cloud assist.

Faster final translations

When a full translation takes longer than usual, the subtitle now shows a quick translation first and replaces it with the better one when it arrives, instead of waiting.

Fixes

  • Screenshots and pasted images that translated only part of what they showed. Long text is no longer cut off, and lines in different languages are each translated.
  • Split messages that started with the previous sentence's comma or full stop, with Standard recognition.
  • Language names shown in their own script in the language pickers. They now appear in your interface language.
  • The free-minutes reminder took space in the toolbar. It is now a one-time notice.
  • The plan step during setup could be cut off on small windows.

Plus a number of smaller fixes to recognition, audio devices, interface translations and stability.
