# Print and apparel specification

Vector files for anyone manufacturing something physical — uniforms, banners, signage,
stickers, engraving. Every file here is **PDF and EPS with all paths outlined**: no live
text, so no font needs to be installed or licensed at the factory.

If your supplier asks for `.ai`, send the PDF. Illustrator opens a PDF natively and every
modern RIP accepts it. If they insist on `.ai`, tell us and we will convert.

**Vector is one-colour only, deliberately.** The shaded U in the full-colour artwork is a
raster and there is no vector master for it. Rather than publish a flattened trace — an
approximation of the mark rather than the mark — full colour ships as PNG, composited from
the real artwork at up to 4000 px. That covers garment printing and banners up to roughly a
metre at press resolution; above that, use the one-colour vector.

`-on-dark` files have a **white** wordmark; `-on-light` files have a near-black one. The
`1color` files are a single solid shape in one ink.

## Embroidery, specifically

- **Use the one-colour icon, not the full-colour one.** The ring is a gradient and the U is
  shaded; neither survives stitching. The one-colour icon has no thin ring at all — it is one
  solid shape with the U knocked out of it — which is why it stitches cleanly.
- **Minimum embroidered width: 20 mm.** The knocked-out U stroke is about 10% of the icon's
  width, so 20 mm leaves roughly a 2 mm stroke — the practical floor for negative detail.
- **Never embroider the full-colour icon.** Its ring is only about 4% of the icon's width and
  closes up below roughly 45 mm.
- The U is **knocked out** of the one-colour icon, not stitched. It should read as garment
  colour showing through, or as a contrasting fill your digitiser chooses; it is never the
  same colour as the surrounding shape.
- **The frame and the U are one mark and never separate.** There is no U-only file in this
  kit, and the U must not be stitched outside its frame at any size. If a placement is too
  small for the icon, use the wordmark or leave the mark off that placement.

## Colour

There is **no official Pantone match** for Unitra AI. Rather than have us guess at one,
match to the hex or the CMYK below and ask your printer for a physical proof before the
run. The CMYK figures are an unprofiled conversion — useful as a starting point, not as a
substitute for a proof.

The icon's outer ring is a gradient from `#1971E3` (top-left) to `#01ADEE` (bottom-right).
In a process that cannot hold a gradient, use the one-colour files rather than flattening the
full-colour artwork yourself.

## Sizes and spacing

Minimum widths, and the clear space the mark needs on all four sides, are in
`../02-brand/BRAND-GUIDELINES.md` sections 3 and 6. In short: horizontal lockup no smaller
than 30 mm wide; icon no smaller than 8 mm in print and 20 mm embroidered; and clear space
equal to half the icon's height around whichever mark you use.

## Raster alternatives

If your supplier cannot take vector, the largest raster exports are in
`../01-logos/lockup/`:

- `unitra-ai-horizontal-solid-dark-2000.png` — 2000 px, opaque dark ground
- `unitra-ai-horizontal-solid-light-2000.png` — 2000 px, opaque white ground

The `solid-*` files are the ones to use in Word, PowerPoint, Google Docs or anywhere
transparency renders as white — a transparent file with a white wordmark disappears on a
white page.
